Eight Reasons Why Hiker Gals Make the Best Relationship/Dating Partners

Hiker chicks are the best. Joshua Tree rocks!

We are practical

Most outdoor enthusiasts love to be outdoors with just a backpack and few survival items. Give me my 10 essentials, a pack and my puppy dog, Moo; and I am perfectly content no matter where I am! (Okay maybe I would also want a beer, coffee and sparkling water, but you get the picture). We will not show up with 4 huge suitcases for a weekend trip or pack 12 pairs of shoes to venture to Europe, or require you to wait 3 hours for us to get ready. We are simple and practical. Many of us live a minimalistic lifestyle and thrive on the quote “collect moments, not things”. We know how to start a fire, pitch a tent, filter water and use a map; which can translate to many other necessary skills, especially when traveling. You will be surprised how handy a woman’s survival skills can be when you are caught in a pinch!

We are ambitious

Waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning to catch a sunset on an epic trail? Yep! Sign me up. Outdoor enthusiasts love early mornings and are more than willing to go above and beyond to reach a goal. Whether it is summiting a new peak, being the first person in line at a walk up camping site or waking up early to pack the car for a trip; we are happy campers and very ambitious when it comes to the outdoors and these qualities often translate into other aspects of our lives such as our careers.

We have seen the world

Whether it is a backcountry trail off the beaten path, visiting National Parks, or globetrotting around the world, we have traveled. We have seen beautiful sunrises, stunning sunsets, and had more epic adventures than you’ve had warm baths. We also have a bit of knowledge about the world and other cultures, allowing us to be open minded about a lot of topics.

 We are grounded

We are down to earth. Literally. We love to sleep on the ground and be one with nature. Have you ever met a hiker who doesn’t love nature and the environment? With that being said, we are usually easy going and super friendly to anyone who wants to chat. The words “pretentious” and “hiker” do not fit in the same sentence or in the same paragraph. I meet some of the nicest people while out on the trails. (Now if only I could find my true love while out in nature)

"Booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin' everywhere

 We have a rockin’ booty

Walking up a mountain is hard work! Hiking takes a certain level of physical fitness, so the proof is in the pudding, plus does wonders for one’s booty.

We are always up for an adventure

It’s safe to say that when you spend a lot of time outdoors, not everything goes as planned all the time. Hence why so much effort goes into preparing for the worst! A gal who hikes is used to facing challenges both physically and mentally, so when things start to go sideways we are well equipped to deal with change. When you date a woman who is used to dealing with impromptu snowstorms on top of a mountain, not getting into a restaurant or a bar is not a big deal. C’est la vie

"The shoes on my feet, I've bought it //The clothes I'm wearing, I've bought it //The rock I'm rockin', I've bought it //'Cause I depend on me if I want it" -Destiny's Child

We are independent

A large part of being in the backcountry is being self-reliant. We are self confident and independent, making for more of an equal player relationship. Dating a self-reliant gal gives a relationship a team dynamic.

We always have the best stories

We have got stories to tell and stories to entertain you with. Running away from bears, eating a roasted goat in Africa, hiking for 24 hours straight, sleeping under the stars, you name it, there is an epic story. We have lived a #YOLO life and, guess what, you could be the next exciting chapter on our rollercoaster journey.

Thanks so much for reading and see you on the trails

xx
